Tracy, Calif. – Superior Crankshaft and Pepper Jack Kennels will sponsor Ryan Philpott of Tracy, Calif. in the Super Late Model portion of this weekend’s Toyota All-Star Showdown at Toyota Speedway in Irwindale, Calif.
Philpott, the 2007 Altamont Raceway Park Western Late Model champion, will be competing under his family-owned Philpott Race Cars banner. The 26 year-old has reason to be confident heading into the event, after a mind-blowing 2007 season record of 10 wins, 21 fast-times, and 21 top-tens in 26 starts. His runs included a stretch of 11 poles in the first 13 races of the season.
Since that darling season, Philpott has dabbled in the now titled NASCAR K&N Pro Series West competition. He has also run a limited schedule in the Late Models while attempting to find sponsorship to support additional efforts on the track.
“We are thrilled to sponsor Ryan Philpott in the upcoming Toyota All-Star Showdown," said Cheryl Archer, CEO Superior Crankshaft. "Superior is all about technology, quality, and speed. Our crankshaft technology constantly pushes the boundaries and we believe those features are what motorsports and racing are all about.â€
Philpott and his team will arrive to the track on Thursday. Practices will take place at 10 a.m. and noon on Friday, followed by time trials at 5:15 p.m. and the feature race at 7:35 p.m.
Â
Last year’s events drew over 60 entrants vying for 40 starting positions in the 100 lap feature. The feature events pays $10,000 to win and will be broadcasted live on SPEED with Irwindale Speedway expected to be at sold out capacity.
